ParaglideKilimanjaro.com, leaders in pioneering gliding adventures across Tanzania, has done it again! On 02 September 2024 we soared to new heights with the return of hang gliding at Ngorongoro Crater for the first time in over four decades!
Among the pilots were legendary Canadian “Bald Eagle” Michael Robertson, with over 50 years of flying experience, David Llewellyn, with 30 years of adventure under his wings, and adventure enthusiast Rishi Ramraj. The Paraglide Kilimanjaro team tow-launched the pilots on the crater rim, providing breathtaking views of this UNESCO World Heritage Site, home to iconic wildlife like rhinos, elephants, and lions.
Thanks to the relentless efforts of Paraglide Kilimanjaro’s director, Linda Willemse, all red tape was cleared and specialist logistics in place, allowing the Spirit of Adventure film crew to conduct the first hang gliding flights over at the Ngorongoro Crater in 44 years as part of an epic adventure film!
Their journey rekindles the spirit of the 1981 film ‘Birdmen of Kilimanjaro‘, as they explored flying sites untouched by hang gliders for decades in Tanzania. Their adventure will be showcased in a forthcoming film (to be released later this year) in which Rishi hopes to inspire more hang gliding pilots to take to the skies. Prepare for a high-flying adventure unlike any other!
